Good morning gents,

Need a bit of advice from pretty much the only forum I trust. I have a Xeon E5530 in my rig. Now I was cooling it with an old Nero Akasa cooller, with a 2K RPM fan I yanked out of an old intake fan from a server chassis :D This ran about 30-35 idle and 50-55 load.

As you can imagine, this was pretty damn loud.. So I went for a quiet cooller, a Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev.2 High Performance Quiet CPU Cooler - It really isn't cooling it well, 50-55 idle and 70+ load, couldn't run prime for long tbh.

Anyway, I need a new, quiet, efficient cooler. Any suggestions? I don't mind a bit of noise or spending a lil more cash.. Perhaps one of the closed watercooling coolers? Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks guys

If that cooler isn't cooling it properly at stock, then I'd say it's not seated properly. They're fairly "budget" coolers but still better than the stock ones.

It seemed pretty solid.. Hmm. Maybe I haven't seated it correctly.

I'll re-fit it.

Out of curiosity, and for overclocking (I should really oc it :)) what would you guys suggest as a cooler?

just get the cheapest all in one water contained unit, it's really quiet on low and will outperform other similarly priced aluminium fin coolers which you'd need to run on auto to get the best out of

No problem it's just when on low fans they still perform as well as a medium priced alu cooler and you can't hear them.
