Hi,

I bought a couple of Xeon E5645 6 core (12 logical) CPUs the other day without really knowing a whole lot about them. Does anybody know if they are strictly paired and therefore have to be run in a special dual slot 1366 motherboard or can they be run on their own in an ordinary one?

Cheers

A lot of 1366 Xeon chips can run on the standard desktop 1366 boards even if they aren't in the official list of 'supported CPUs' on the manufacturers web page. I've heard the normal Asus boards may have more issues running these chips than Gigabyte/MSI etc though for some reason.
