Hi all,

Does anyone know if a X5675 will work on a GA-X58-UD5. It's not on Gigabyte's support list but I'm not sure if that's because that haven't updated it or not. It's LGA-1366, but I'm guessing that doesn't mean it's definitely compatible.

I've searched for answers but can't find anyone using this combination. I want to because I have the mobo and can get the X5675 cheap from a friend.

Thanks!

It doesn't look like it.

The only motherboards Intel list the X5675 as being compatible with are their server boards.

They don't list any of their X58 boards as compatible.

But the 950 is only quad core, the X5675 is a hex-core. Cheap is £300, but you also need to consider the quality of the X5675 (cache etc). I'm also confident I could OC it to 3.6-4.0GHz quite easily. I'm basically looking for a sub £350 way to get a hex-core that will run at around 4GHz. I do a lot of multi-threaded video debayering (RED) and my 3.8GHz Quad i7 isn't hacking it (-:
