So i've been in contact with creative for the last few days to see what they said about this issue. After going through a few tests they finally said this:
"With regard to your query, we understand that there are some users
experiencing this problem with 4 GB or more memory on their computer.
However, not all systems would have these issues hence the suggestion to
update the BIOS. If the BIOS is of the latest version, it would seem
that the Xtreme Gamer would only work with 2GB of RAM.
We hope we are able to clarify the query with you. Please do not
hesitate to contact Creative Customer Support Services again should you
require any further clarifications or problems to resolve in the near
future."
I did mention the fact that the prelude driver info states that this is an issue and a fix will be coming http://www.auzentech.com/data/prelude_driver_status_082807.pdf. So why have creative just said it wont work?
