question is, where can i get a iso of the complete disk so i can have all those extras again?

ok, so.... anyone got a fix for this? i can install drivers fine that ive downloaded, but as soon as i run the iso that i downloaded, i get this, and i remember i used to get it with the original disk... ive tried both pci slots (which is a royal pain in the a**e cos of my sli g80 gtx watercooling setup) and still the same error!!!!! ive tried all sorts of things

if someone knows of a simple file that can trick the cd into thinking its installed the drivers, or even just a fix! im on xp 32.

please, this is taking the mic now, sick of this card. never buying vreative again.

Yeah Agnes, I remember getting that some error message appearing when I tried installing my elite pro as well. In the end I just did all sorts of things by trial and error until it worked. Sadly, this happened last year so I've forgotten what I did exactly.

Since upgrading my motherboard last week, I've not bothered putting my X-Fi back, which seems a waste considering the cost of it. I'm now thinking about getting the Auzentech Meridian/Prelude or the Asus Xonar, but I'll wait for some reviews of the cards first.

Good luck with your install though. Hope you'll get it sorted! :)

How are you running the ISO exactly? I found, when i had to do something similar, mounting the ISO to a virtual drive and running it from there produced a similar error, whereas using WinRar's explorer to find the setup.exe file and installing it from there was fine.

ive burned it onto a dvd, ran it from daemon tools, ran it from winrar, ran it from winrar extracted onto desktop.

im about to reformat tonight or tomorrow, think this will make a difference?

I'm actually planning on doing the same because i've installed so many different drivers on my system since i built it i think it's time for a clean out. I'm hoping it will solve a lot of problems i'm experiencing, including the crackling i get with my X-Fi card.

Have you tried the Youp-Pax Software Suite?

downloading now, cheers for the info :D ill let you know how it goes.

and aye, im reformatting for a couple of reasons, many drivers scattered around the place, got all working ones now, but would like to have a clean install with only the working drivers, and 2, my oblivion is messed up, no matter what i do, reinstall, delete completley, delet/edit the reg it still plays really bad where as it didnt before... so i suppose its just one of those things

Heh, my Oblivion install is getting a little bogged down, too. Plus the textures are messing up, the screen goes completely black in certain areas and, in others, doors are bright purple! I planned to do a reformat on mine anyway; i only intended to use this install of the OS for testing purposes (for drivers, mods for games, overclocking & stress testing, etc.) and now it's pretty much all ready.

Yeah, let me know how it goes because, knowing my luck, when i reformat it isn't going to like the drivers that have been working this time round so it would be handy to know what works for your. Good luck!

ok, im about to reformat, this better work as i simply cant be arsed wasting a 200+ quid sound card because of shoddy driver support.

nope, after reformat and reinstall of windows, still the exact same problem..... really stumped now :S all i need is the applications off the disk, and the only way to get them is by running the install for the driver from the disk lol... this is stupid

anyone have any way around they got it to work?

thanks, ags

agnes, your spec is very simiar to mine.

I notice you have watercooled 8800 cards, does this free up an extra PCI slot? If so, which slot do you have the x-fi in? Also, which BIOS are you using?

I know Asus supposedly fixed a bunch of issues with the Striker with BIOS 901, some specific to the x-fi. I'm sure you know all this but just thought I'd check!

Also, triple check that you definitely have the right ISO, what happens if you just use the drivers (either 2.15.0002 for vista, or 2.09.0007 for XP) from creative's site?

Ok, i have a BFG 680i now, latest BIOS (20.53 or something like that)as for the pci slots, yes, your 100% right, but i have to remove the cards to get to the free pci slot, which i have done twice now, the sound card has been in both pci slots numerous times, still no avail.

hehe, just checked, and yes, ive got the SB XFI iso :) right one

right, as much as i HATE doing this, im going to flash and update my bios to p30, see if that helps.... gonna loose all of my settings :( just when my pc's running perfect lol

ags

ok, bios was at p23 hehe, its now at p30, everything back to normal, but still.... sound card NOT being seen by the installation disk.
