Right, basically i am wanting to use this combo for a media/gaming PC.
I want the AV receiver to do the decoding of DD/DTS rather than letting the XFi do this as i am led to believe that the sound quality is like to be better. To do this i am told i should use the SPDIF output on the XFi card, can the spdif port take digital coaxial RCA cables? If not, where can i get a 3.5mm jack to coax/rca ??

Now for gaming, i would like the XFi to handle the sound so that i can use all the EAX bell's and whisles (for games that support stereo or surround sound).
For this i am told i will need to use the 3 analogue outputs and connect to the 5.1 analogue inputs on the receiver. Am i able to ignore this and force the XFi to output all the 5.1 and EAX goodness through the SPDIF output? (if the game supports 5.1) or the stereo and EAX goodness if it doesn't?

Now if i do use both types of connection, is there a way to handle the software so that the XFi will use the analogue when i load up a game, and the digital when i load up a DVD?
Also, when done, am i going to have to purchase a USB headset to enable me to use a mic?

Hope i've made the post clear.
Thanks for any help.
