XFI & Intel 975xbx issues

hiya!
Planning on setting up a new rig and have heard a lot of issues with the XFI cards (popping sounds etc) and apparently they are compatibility issues with Mobos... 975xbx is the one im buying so has anyone used this combination before? any issues?
Also, how different is the Xtrememusic OEM version from the retail one? does it come with the same warranty/support? i was thinking of buying Fatal1ty but the only diff is the Xram and it seems like a waste for money for the time being so going with Xtreme-music ..any help will be much appreciated...

The issue has apparently been narrowed down to the nForce 4 motherboards, so you should be ok with that one.

Wouldn't be 100% sure on that one...

If you look at the creative discussion forums, there are a lot of folks having issues getting this to work on many different boards (including nf4 & 975x chipsets) from sound distortion & poping noises to installation errors and BSODs.

There seems to be a lot of people struggling badly with this card

i have one that installs fine works for awhile but then sound goes :confused:

the onboard sound is actually pretty good on the asus p5w dh

but no match for xf-i... honestly.

i am using xf-i extreme music on my asus p5w dh deluxe without a hicup or glitch, just perfect sound...

Did you have to do anything clever or did it just work?

Mine won't work install and I have the same MB as you do :/

I have the same mobo too and cannot for the life of me get my back surrounds to work.

And yes the cables are set correctly.
