Xfire 6950/6970

I have a MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB (Rev1), Flashed to a 6970. I was planning on getting another but the price jumped from £200 to £260 to eventually being removed from the site.

I don't know what to do, do I buy the card elsewhere to Xfire or can I buy a 6970 to work with it.

Might as well buy a flat 6970 because the prices are so high.

Easier said than done now. Hunting down flashable 6950 2GB is hard now, considering there's barely any rev.1 version card left, and many people seem to forget that half year already has passed since the launch of the 69xx series.

Both the 6950 and 70 will run at there own speeds but i overclock the 6950 to match the 6970

does it have a bios switch?

not that i know of.

but if you can find it this one may be flashable.

Yes it does, don't have a clue if it can be flashed though:

'Look closely and you will spy the BIOS-toggling switch that's a hallmark of the Radeon HD 69xx cards. Flicking it over does nothing on this card, though the possibility exists, however uncertain, that it can be unlocked and flashed to a faster Radeon HD 6970 part.'

Can't link it but it sounds like 'texus'.

I might aswell just buy a 6950 and run them both on CF at stock, Should handle future games at 1920 x 1080.

Any reccomendations?

As Surveyor pointed out, the new Sapphire 'Dirt 3' edition 6950 looks like it can be flashed:

'on the top edge we find a Crossfire connector and beside it a dual BIOS switch which Sapphire have provided so that enthusiasts can attempt to flash the card with alternate configurations such as 6970 specifications.'
