Xfire woes

I bought another 5870 last week to xfire with my other 5870.

Its boxed up and going back for refund as its been nothing but trouble.

My original card is a sapphire reference card so i ordered another sapphire the same just to make sure they will work nice together but when the box arrived the cooler is different and the pcb has also been changed http://sites.google.com/site/ayupfromdik/files/crossfire.JPG?attredirects=0&d=1

Id load up heaven benchmark and xfire will work fine then close the benchmark and reload it and xfire wont work.Reboot and it works again then load vantage and its single card performance and after 1 minute or less the gfx corrupt so i close it and try heaven again and its single card performance again.

Ive reloaded the drivers 6x a day or more and even reformat the hd and reinstall win7 and still the same.ive used one xfire bridge then 2 and turned them around and changed the slots the cards are in still the same.

End of the day i think its best to buy the fastest single card you can from either camp as ive had problems over the years with both sli and xfire.

When they work well the performance is very nice but im afraid they dont always work well so mines going back for refund and ill stick to single cards from now on.

Ocuk should change the picture of the sapphire card on their site as that is not the card you get when you buy one and i thing maybe why it didnt work corectly with my original sapphire.Just look at my picture to see the difference both sapphire 5870s.

Thats a bummer..

I have allways thought after reading loads of bad things about xfire, I would never attempt it..

I had the money and thought bugger it go for it..
I think its great, have not suffered any bad things..
and even though I game at 1650*1080 120hz , the difference is clear.
Never drop below 100 fps in games like bfbc2 with eye candy on..

Maybe if you can get a card with the same board you should try again..
