Helloooo all,

So today my XFX AVP 5850 arrived, woooohoo!

Installed it as one would do normally, uninstalled 8800GTX drivers then rebooted and ran driver sweeper and turned off my PC.

Put in the 5850, booted up all was good, installed Cat 10.6's, brilliant.

I realise im bottlenecking my card a bit with a e5200 @ only 2.5ghz (stock). So I tried to overclock it a bit to 3ghz which my pc has ran at before to try give it a little more speed. Restarted pc after editing the bios on my DFI DK P35 and no picture. Ok I thought, must have altered something too much so I reset my CMOS and agian no picture.

Eventually went through reseating everything and only plugging in compulsary components to get it to boot, nothing, no picture would come up at all. I finally decided to put my 8800GTX back in and what do you know, I got a picture and my PC booted, went straight in the to bios to look around for what setting may have stopped my 5850 from working. I found a bios setting with something to do with what port the pc first looks at when booting up it was on PCI as default so changed it to PCIE, put my 5850 in and bang, I've got a boot screen agian with my 5850 as I did when I first installed it.

I'm about to troubleshoot if this was the reason it made it worked agian or not, but waiting for 3d mark Vantage to download.

My Current spec is ::
e5200 @ stock 2.5gz
DFI DK P35
4gb's Kingston DDR2 800Mhz
OCZ 500watt Stealth Silent thingy

I've had a google around and have read a little about PCIE 1.x mobo's possibly being troublesome, but thats about all I could find. Just hoping it doesnt happen agian.....

Sean

***Edit***

The 'Init Display First' bios setting actually made no difference at all, so totally confused as to why its working now.
