Hi all,

I obtained a 5870 a couple of months ago, and with the PSU I had at the time it wasn't good enough. My computer simply wasn't booting ect. So I bought a new 1000W OCZ Gold, and the exact same issues that I had on my old PSU I have on this new one.

This has led me to believe that my 5870 is infact broken in some way.

The question is, is there anything that I can do about it to fix it?

Right.

1. A 1000W PSU or a 5870 is just a waste of power, money and your electric bill. For ONE GPU around the power of the 5870 I would go for a 650W PSU. 1000W is way too much!

It was more for getting a decent PSU for the years to come and have something that I know will last.

If you can get into the bios, try locking your pci-e lane to 101MHz, if that doesn't work, try it in another PC.

Rma it.

I have tried the PCI-e lane and the problem seemed to get worse at 101MHz.

I am in the process of RMA'ing it, but XFX are pretty horrible with their service right now.

I've been through about 2 - 3 different LGA775 boards, then I bought the setup that's in my sig. So either I have incredible bad luck, or the card is just really gone.
