Hi All

I have been looking around on many sites trying to decide which 5870 to go for i want an XFX card as i like their style and heard a lot of good things about their support. As far as i know there are 4 different versions which they have. The standard 5870, XT, XXX and Black Edition which one is the best as different sites have the XXX really cheap and the XT expensive where another site has the XXX really expensive and the XT cheap :confused: can someone help please im really confused.

From a thread on another site, it says this was the case with the 4890:

HD4890 = 850MHz
Extreme (XT) = 875MHz
XXX = 900MHz
Black = 1000MHz

So I guess it's just the level of the overclock on the core, XT being the lowest and Black being the highest.

So would it be better to buy 1 of the cheaper cards and overclock it?

Depends if you like overclocking, sometimes it can void the warranty if it does break I think, but if you have a card which is already pre-overclocked then obviously the warranty will still be granted. I was hearing about the ASUS 5870 which lets you overclock it and still keep the warranty valid, that's just what I've read so take from that what you want.

Ok thanks for the advice. Think I will buy a cheaper 1 and overclock it, I overclocked my 2900xt so it should be fine. Save myself some money ;)
