While there is no problem for 'you', there had been fair numbers of people with 5970/Crossfire 5850/5870 reporting they've been experiencing problems with crossfire; some people was so fed-up with their Crossfire not working as it should, even gone the extreme of selling the 5970/crossfire set-up and bought a GTX480. So even if you have no problem with your 5970, it doesn't represent every 5970 out there. Are you an ambassador for the 'people' now? Do you speak on their behalf because they can't make decisions for themselves?
I've gone from a BFG 295 GTX (dual GPU) to a 5970 (dual GPU) and not had any problems with multi-GPU cards at all. You're making a decision based on other peoples opinions without actually using one of these cards yourself. Don't worry though you're not in the minority here, about 90% of users in the Graphics Cards sections will say the same too.
And I stand corrected that encouraging the OP to get a new 5970 right now is poor advise (no matter how great you think the card is), since 6990 will be out soon at around the same price point, and Cayman GPU's performance is much better for demanding games (i.e. Crysis, Metro2033) than the Evergreen based dual-GPU dropping down to the 20fps~25fps stutter hell.
