XFX 6800 Ultra PCI-e - Power drain?

I've got one of these coming from another member, but have just realised my PSU may not be up to the task.

I've seen a review that mentions they can pull 110W.

Anyone got any experience of how juicy they can be??

Cheers,

M

How many amps does your PSU have? on my friends it was drawing around 24AMPS

Its the Antec Phantom Fanless PSU though.

If i hammer it, it has no way to keep cool.

Could be an interesting experiment though...

Anyone fancy getting one of those QTEC pictures ready for me?? :p

Cheers,

M

Cool! I'll give it a blast sometime when i have a chance then.

My new PCI-e mobo has onboard GFx anyways - so at least I have a fallback position if it proves to draw too much! :)

Yeah should be fine no probs at all as thats a combined 34A on the 12v rails. :)

Theoretical 34a most lightly

i doubt you could load both rails to anything like that.

my tagan claims 20a per rail but will only do 35a total

Psu Calculator v1.3

A very usefull page for working out exactly what watts your psu will be supplying also copes with overclocked systems :)

Taken from Extreme outervision

The total Watts is important but the Total Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most important, followed by the +5V amperage and then the +3.3V amperage. Because of the increased power consumption of the new high-power video cards the recommended minimum for +12V is 26A, for SLI 35A.
