XFX 680i LT SLI

Not sure about overclocking, will probably try for 3.6 on Air.
Havent bought other bits yet, im just putting a PC together from 2nd hand parts I can get for a decent price.

E6850 for £80
Mobo, maybe this one, undecided, reason for considering is that its £50

I have 2Gb of Crucial ballistix PC2-8500 to go in it as well.

I was considering running 2x8800GTs in SLI ?

680i is an ok'ish board if you get a good one it,ll clock a duel core cpu ok, but that usually involves high v core, as for the intel quads theye a bit rubbish, on a 680i currenty running an e6600 on the evga version of this board,@3.6ghz 1.525 v which is quite heavy voltage wise, if you dont need sli look perhaps at the newer intel x38/48 chipset boardsl

definitely the intel boards are a lot more stable but im quite new to pc's and all there problems, and im so used to the nforce chipsets and their associated bios's if i was to change id have to go reading and learning again about the different settings etc, the 680i is a very easy board to overclock i know a lot of people have had problems with them, must be first time luck for me, mine has been steady as a rock for months now

As stated already you`ll have problems with quads and they won`t run yorkfields so if you`re going to keep it for any length of time i`d be tempted by an Intel chipset.Other than that,it`s a solid enough board, mine ran a 6420 15 3.5gig prime stable (1.4v core):)
