Hey, something of a newbie here.
So the new PC I ordered came yesterday (Titan Krypt if that matters) and I immediately installed the card and fired it up.
The drivers that came on the disk seemed to work fine for a while, until I tried to play some of my steam games and Left4Dead, Portal 2 and Just Cause 2 all immediately quit to desktop with no messages after the intro movies and/or splash screen.
I figured this could be due to not having the latest drivers so I removed some Nvidia drivers and PhysX that I found knocking about and downloaded the latest drivers, 11.4 I believe. However the pc bluescreened during the installation, when it restarted the resolution was out of whack and it wouldnt detect the correct native resolution.
So after uninstalling all drivers that I could (via add/remove programs and Catalyst, no third party programs yet) ive managed to get back to a state of having no drivers but at least having the correct resolution. After a bit of googling it seems like installing the drivers in safe mode might be the way to go, and at this stage im pretty much hedging all my bets on this.
So my question is, is it meant to be this difficult to get the drivers to work? Is safe mode likely to be my salvation?
Basically looking for reassurance that this isnt unusal and that my shiny new toy isnt broken :<
Oh also after the first bluescreen incident the fans in my case (Antec300) seem to go flat out as soon as I start it up, which is irritating since the top fan is really quite loud (may need screwing in tighter) Is this due to a lack of Catalyst to control the fan speeds?
Sorry for potential wall of text, any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
(also sorry for lack of detail, writing this from work right now)
