XFX 7800gt tv in?

can i use my XFX 7800gt for recieving TV signals (it has a composite in)?
if so how do i go about doing this?
what software would i need?

You need all the correct cables, they should have come with the card.
Software wise you need the nVidia WDM drivers and capture software, VirtualDub is free and relatively easy to use.
Don't expect to record things in mpeg-2 format for example as there is no decoder on the graphics card, things would have to be recorded live and in raw format and the size of say a half-hour program is huge, if people know how to enable decoding on the fly please tell!

i dont need to record anything just watch tv and switch channels is that possible?

Yes, you would be able to watch tv and switch channels. I noticed a degredation in signal though (not much though, still watchable), make sure you have the de-interlacing option switched on if your watching on a computer monitor.

you can have video in, but the card does not have a tv tuner
