Well Mr Citylink man has left me a nice little(ish) box at home and in it is a XFX 780i SLI motherboard. Will have a go at getting it installed and running tonight :) The only decision now is do I install the 2 8800GTX or 2 8800GTS 512...

Update is...its still sat in the box as I haven't had time yet as work have called and I now need to go in to dig a big project out the brown stinky stuff tomorrow...

Hi Folks,

Well I finally got round to build the PC on Sunday night using the new bits and pieces and so far, it seems like a pretty good baord. Have come across the 4GB install problem with Vista 64 so will need to sort that before I get the whole thing built but Vista 32 is installed and running quite happily. Not tried over clocking yet but it seems to not have a problem running my Ballsitix memory at 1T which I was quite surprised given its 4x1GB sticks.

I'll report back later whn I've install 64bit and the second GTX.

Steve

Ok well thats everything installed hardware wise now. Just finish the OS install and then we'll be in business for some over clocking. Anybody who runs Everest the newest beta reads just about everything on this board.

Well quick test last night and got the q6600 Occt stable at 3.4 with mem at 945. CPU is at 1.38 v under load and mem is at its required 2.1v. Mem is also running at 1t.

Not bad for a quick 10 minute play.

I'm watercooling using a Thermaltake LCS Kandalf case. Not the best in the world but keeps things around the low 50s @3.4. I'm running 4 x 1GB Basllistix @ 950. One thing I do notice is the MCP gets bloody hot, but its the south not the northbridge chip reporting.

BTW if EVGA release a BIOS for there board you can flash that onto the XFX as its the same board.

Now at 3.6 and mem at 500 OCCT stable for over 3 hours before I got bored and went to bed. Thats the same cpu speed as my previous X38 but with less volts and the memory is now higher with less as well.
