XFX 7950 trouble

Hi guys,

A few weeks back i went from water back to air.
I shifted my gear to a good friend who in turn chucked a h80i in as part of the deal.
I had a MSI 7950 full block and he had an XFX 7950 Black Edition on air so we swapped them too.
Now the problem is really low frame rates, im talking 25fps in sleeping dogs and only 50-70fps in F1 2012 and really poor 3Dmark11 scores circa 6500.

Things i have tried,

Clean install and latest drivers for everything
Cleared CMOS
Latest Bios
Put the card in different PCI-E slots
New power supply (i went from and OCZ 1000w to a Corsiar CX750M)
Different RAM (16gb Avixer Mpower to 16gb Corsair XMS3)

The rest of the system is
MSI Z77 Mpower
2600k at stock

The strange thing is in the windows system rating i get 8.0 out of 9.9
But the thing thats really head ****ing me is when i put the card back in my mates system which is near identical it works perfectly!!! 120+fps in F1 2012 and 3dMark11 scores well over 8000.

Sooooo my question is.... WTF???

Are you running the card at stock?

The XFX has faulty cooling, it's prime to high temps which can cause fps drops.

Yeah its all stock, the thing is on 3dMark11 the fans dont kick in, infact they barely raise at all, which made me think the card itself wasnt kicking in properly but then why does it work fine in my friend rig?

Arrrrgh

Unfortunately this sounds like a damaged Pci Express interface on your motherboard, this would explain why your friends works fine and yours is limited.

Ps. i use XFX 7950's at 1175Mhz which run fantastically. But inly recently in this hot weather are they getting hot 90oC...

So youre saying with this broken piece piece of the motherboard it means ALL the pci-e slots would be crapped out?
The boards not even that old so rma, although a pain, will be ok.
I just want to make sure before i pay for postage and send it off to msi.
