XFX 7950AGP and Socket A motherboard

Hi im trying to run a 512MB XFX 7950 on a socket A motherboard with 2004 bios, im only getting the bios screen then my monitor is going into sleep mode. Will this be due to the fact im running on an older mobo? My old 6800AGP works great on this board. But cant seem to get this 7950 to boot into windows.

Any help is great

Do you have a good enough power supply? and if the card requires it - do you have the extra power lead connected to the card?
 
What socket A board is it your using? Once had an issue with a graphic card that was bios related and caused monitor to go to sleep randomly. That was on a msi k7n2 delta2 with an 6600gt and modded bios for an xpm chip but a different modded bios sorted it out.
 
Even went out and bought a New Socket A motherboard-formatted. And still getting the same problem!!!! the card works great in my brothers rubbishy 1ghz sempron tho with a 350W psu!!!! How strange
 
How far past post does it get now you've formatted?

Could you get into windows setup at all?

PSU make / model / wattage?
 
hi, Its shows on bios first screen as XFX 7950 512mbit and bios number etc. Then loads main bios screen fine. After when the next screen would be the windows loading bar it just goes dead and my monitor goes into sleep mode. Also allthough than fan works on the card the LCD light never works.But i noticed in my brothers the LCD light on the gfx card was on and it booted into windows.

My brother was using a 1Ghz Sempron with 756DDR ram and 1HDD and 1 CD DRIVE - he was booting with a 400W PSU with no problems.

I was trying to use 2500+ Ahtlon at clock speeds. 2 GIG DDR 1HDD and 2 DVDrW drives Booting with a Winpower 650W psu
I swapped his PSU for mine thinking it would work seen as it loaded fine in his but still the same problem. And the light on the card still wasnt lit in my pc.

Any help is great thanks!

1.5V i tried upping it to 1.8 but nothing any ideaS?
haha i also tried my brother monitor on my pc too but that also cuts out!!!!!
 
So a quick recap is...

I got a XFX 7950GT 512 AGP

On my m848ALu MOBO with 2500+ XP CPU 2GIG of DDR400 and 650W wouldnt boot to windows.

Tried swapping motherboard to a Abit NF7 Board and still didnt boot.

Tested the card in my brothers 1ghz sempron with ECSk7s5a mobo 768 DDR 2100. 400W PSU and it booted.

For those of u thinking why doesnt he use the other mobo? Well it doesnt even support my 2500+ cos its that bad. No idea how it booted a 7950 when those other 2 boards havnt!

Now that upsets me its really not fair!!!! :'( hehe
