XFX 7970 Core Edition 3GB

Hopefully getting a friend to pick 1 of these up for me tonight.

Trying to con my dad to pay for it as well so that I don't have to then I can sell my SLI 570's and hopefully have enough cash spare to buy another 1.

I don't think i should see much of a performance drop from sli 570's to a 7970 should I?

Currently running out of Vram on the 570's and I want to play with everything maxed.

Will put the new card under water as soon as I get it as well so should be able to get a nice overclock from it.


So what do you think of this card?

Good decission / Bad decission?

Whats it like at overclocking?

I'm not sure if your SLI GTX570 limitation is really mostly because of the vram...it could be with the Phenom II X6 not giving it proper performance scaling.

i've turned down graphics settings and its fine only happens with high textures (not even ultra) and if i have any AA on it uses 3GB VRAM.

If i turn settings down its fine.

GPU usage is always at 95 - 98% and cpu usage is around 70 - 75%

I have one, they take the ghz bios nicely too. Whos Dad buys them a gpu though lol I've never had that luxury I had to buy my own consoles even.

He's gotta pop home to sell the house and there only £250 for a 7970 core edition.

So just get him to buy it and forget to pay him back.
