ok as some of you know i have won the corsair 650w from 8pack and will be using that in my system!

the xfx 850w non modular i have now is making a weird noise, its the ball bearings in the fan going after 1yr!!
so..
the fan is 135mm - ADN512UB-A90 rated at 84cfm, yes i know i cant get 135mm fans!
so im going to get a 120mm rated as close to 84cfm airflow as i can get and zip tie it with the 135mm holes with a 3 pin to 2 pin adapter, as the fan in there now is 2pin
the question is, will the fan in there now be PWM or not? i cant find much info about this fan and some review said its not PWM but what do you think?

did think about that but didnt want to remove the clear plastic as it must be there for a reason...i dont think it is because when i took the fan off the psu and spin it with my finger it still made the noise, obviously not as loud but it was still there

nope cant rma it because i have messed up the warranty sticker by opening it up
im probably getting the aerocool black shark 120mm and zip tying it in

It will probably bot be PWM. I assume the PSU would just control the voltage to the fan to make it faster/slower.
I'm going to be changing my fan soon in my OCZ ZT750, that's 2 pin as well.
Let me know how you get on

yup will do mate, in this thread...i have found 2 differnt sizes of 3 pin to 2 pin adapters so all is good :) il measure the one i have now when i take the psu out of my case and order the right size one, its either 9mm or 6mm width

found a 3 pin to 2 pin adapter online and also bought the 120mm aerocool black shark fan from oc (didnt want led) because the airflow is rated a tiny bit under the original 135mm which is fine and i also know that the aerocool fan doesnt half shift some air!

right its done and working, all screwed back together as normal!!!! didnt test it properly just connected 8 pin and the big long one :p

fan on the bracket thing needing zip tie ends cut off, bracket was what the original 135mm fan was screwed on

fan on the bracket ends, cut and screwed in psu like normal

edit. and what i did with the loose connectors at the bottom i tucked them under the silver bracket above it not touching the fan at all

There doesn't need to be 4 wires for the fan to be PWM controlled. The PSU pcb may well feed the fans with a 12v PWM signal just using the two wires.

Tealc im sure i read somewhere that the original 135mm fan is not pwm.. i hope the fan i have stuck in there changes speed just like the 135mm

I've replaced the stock fan with a Cooler Master 120mm JetFlo. This fan has threaded screws rather than the standard ones so they are perfect when you drill holes in the fan bracket.

Quiet as the grave now...
