xfx 850w psu

will the 750 one be powerful enough to run cards, we also have an fx 6300, soon to be 8350, and i read they can use a hell of a lot of power

You'd be perfectly fine with the 750w, in fact I'd recommend saving the pennies for it. As above - Stulid's infinite knowledge :D

is there much of a price dif between a semi and fully modular psu

Well the next option would be a Seasonic power supply for fully modular. Assuming he has a big enough case it really shouldn't be a concern, you'll be using the hard wired cables anyway - They are easy enough to hide away.

Stick with the XFX 750w, it's an excellent choice.

lol he doesnt have a case its my pc i only let him have a shot hehehe. anyways reason i was askin is i have an irn-bru theme going on inside and i wanted to do cable braiding with orange and blue sleeving which i already have and i think braiding a fully modular psu would be easier, but not if its going to cost a bomb more

i banked on £120 as my max, however if i got the 750w xfx one i could get a nice fan controller at same time but thats not really essential, do u have a link to a good fully modular psu that would suit please

Cable sleeving modular cables often requires splicing cables together are you aware of this? Plus the pins are not often 1-1 so at some point they will cross over - Silverstone are the only ones who make fully modular cables 1-1 without double wires but the models vary. There is a good thread over at Overclock.net on sleeving and pin-outs etc.

An alternative is to sleeve cable extensions (Which is how I do my sleeving) it's easier, quicker and cheaper in most cases.

Is a good choice, there is a pin-out over at Overclock.net if you wanted to sleeve it all. It's a very hands on job though as mentioned.

As Stulid has said, the two Silverstones would also be a good option. Pretty sure they are 1-1 wiring too.

ive already done a psu before but i only done about a quarter of the cables, basicall enough so once tucked away you could only see sleeved section if that makes any sort iof sense

this time i was planning on getting a decent psu and doing all cables properly

Assuming it has to be fully modular I'd opt for the one of the Silverstone offerings. Interested to see how you current setup looks now, love the idea of orange/blue reminds me of Portal :p
