xfx 8800 gtx problem

almost finished my build when it came connecting up the 8800 fitted the card plugged in 6 pin pci-e cable's and gpu fan fired up but for some reason not getting a signal to moniter the bfg display's a code 85 which is usb intialization. took the gtx out and tried a ati pci-e card i have and had instant signal to moniter which rule's mobo out and there was no code either.so am thinking card is buggered?

It could also be a power issue maybe? What is your PSU that you have?

Maybe try the card (if possible) in a friend's system?

Did you fully remove the ATi drivers, as you said you stuck an ATi card back in and worked, so was that the full rigmarole off removing the Nv drivers, then Driver cleaning, then putting the ATi card back in and then re-installing the Ati drivers.

psu is certified sli psu sliverstone zf75f 750w. haven't even loading window's was just building system outside of case . carn't even see bios with xfx 8800 gtx as moniter is completely dead.with ati in pci-e slot i can see the bois on the moniter.used dvi cable for both card's.i can see and hear the xfx gpu fan come on but nothing else.
