Xfx And Freesync

Hi i just bought a Freesync monitor as i have an XFX 290 but can the 290 work with freesync ? and what kind of displayport cable do i need to order as there are a few different ones

Hi tommy i just opened the box tonight and the cable is an hdmi one so i know i need to order one but not sure what one to get ? any advice appreciated

Amd have shown freesync to work on hdmi on some new monitors ( not sure if that's one you have ). If not then you have to use dp.

If you have to have freesync over dp then why oh why didn't they supply one with the monitor!!!

Thanks this is the one i have just got today and i will connect it tommorow night but im not sure if i need the displayport cable or not

Any display Port Cable will do. I got a cheap on from the bay, works fine.

But what type ie male to male or male to mini ?

Well i picked ap a Displayport cable today and it does not work as the crimson software says freesync not available and i get screen tearing in wolfenstien the new order

Is there anything in the monitor's menu's you have to enable to turn freesync on?

I know with my BenQ one I had to turn off the Blur Reduction. Even after I did it didn't let me enable Freesync until I had turned it on and then off a 2nd time.

Very limited instructions with the monitor so im not sure

Yep, uninstall the current drivers (using DDU http://www.wagnardmobile.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=149&sid=e338621d16194098ada9fdca59332956 )

It will ask to reboot into safe mode, let it, then install the latest Crimson 15.12 drivers from AMD.

I just tried this but still not working but ill try the last driver later

Finally got freesync working it was in the monitor settings and switched off by default
