XFX - are they a good brand?

I have had 2 8800 Ultras by XFX and still have one of them.

I also had a 7950 card i had to RMA once and had no problems doing so.

Mostly the cards are the same with just different cooler designs. I've always like XFX design wise etc but ive heard there support is pretty bad...

XFX Sux. i had a 7900 GT a few years ago and it would run full fan speed all the time/had artifacts in certain games. After 2 weeks of keeping my card they sent it back to me saying there was nothing wrong with it. i tested the card in 2 other systems and the problem was still there.

Stay away from them.

Back when the 6800 series came out, they were regarded as a good brand. From then on though I have no idea, as i've not upgraded for some time.

I used to have a XFX card, but that was ages ago. Never really had much problems with them except their support isn't that great.

If it's a new card your buying then get BFG or EVGA. Both have excellent support.

i sent back a 7600GT to OCUK which was made by XFX. within few days OCUK confirmed it died (displayed no screen) after 2 weeks, XFX said it was fine and sent it back to OCUK.... OCUK then restested it, found it Faulty again. so Ocuk billed XFX for a More Expensive 7600GT BFG Superclocked.:D whole RMA took 3-4 weeks

we need a sticky highlighting the process in which graphics cards are made
so that people realise that all the cards will be made to the same standard and that the logo on the card only dictates what warrenty the end user gets

---------------------

edit* after a bit of work i have done one here

xfx have a very misleading warranty

you should read the fineprint

also the thread describes the way graphics cards are made and shows that 'good brand' only relates to warranty

They were terrible with my 680i, irritating web based support thing that took ages, as posted above, evga and bfg are much better.

I used them before on a 8800GTS and 8800GTX, never had an issue with them though never had to go the support route with them

Clock their cards a little higher, give them a stupid name and stick shinier stickers on the heatsink...
Are attrocious if the card ever develops a problem.

That's what I've learned about XFX in my lifetime.
