i noticed the XFX psu's on the site a couple of weeks ago and they look cool and out performed "the best" in a couple of reviews i read. beside performance tho there was a serious fault wen its over current protection was tested. it was tested 2 times and it failed to knock itself off the 2nd time which resulted in it Blowing up  this was said to have happened on not only the 1 in the review but others aswell.

this review was a lot of months old maybe even a year. so im just wondering if these are revised and ocuk have got them back in because they are safe these days.

Add: yea the review is nearly a year old now. heres the 1 wer it blew up

yea thanks stulid

i seen the jonnyguru review and its nice to see that other 1 now. theres no doubting its performance and i want to get it, but the overclock3d review is still in the back of my mind :(

hmmm! weather its a 650 or 850 its still an XFX psu failing.

think im gonna play it safe with a Corsair HX850!

But even though they have the same XFX badge on them they are not made by XFX and most likely not of the same design. They will be made by someone else (could even be a different real manufacturer for the 650 XXX and the 850 Black - that happens with PSUs - though in this case they are both seasonic it appears) based on an off-the-shelf platform, then branded as XFX. So even though both are XFX they are probably totally different products under the skin. If the 850 black gets some solid reviews it's probably fine. You probably wont be overloading it anyway even when you SLI.

But then you can't go wrong with a Corsair either.

i wonder if the naming of the psus has something to do with the manufacturer like
the 650 is XXX edition while the 750 and 850 are black editions.

I read that XFX PSU is actually made by Seasonic...but not sure if that applies too all models.

According the hardware secrets review, while the XFX 650 XXX did blow up, it was overloaded at 745W, which was nearly 100W over the rated wattage...so I'm not sure if it is any reason for rating it down because of it. I still think it is a great modular 650W PSU with 5 years warranty and the price at below £70. But of course, while the Antec TruePower 650W is better...it does however cost more to buy.
