XFX HD 5770 Squealing

The noise is capacitor squeal, it comes from the capacitors vibrating as they charge and discharge. It is normally the video cards that do it, but any capacitors can. As you start using more and more power and get to the limits of what a PSU is rated for it will cause the capacitors to have to charge and discharge more to maintain a level power source and the noise will become louder.

That's assuming that it is a capacitor. Could be a fan bearing squealing as it ramps up playing games. I've said it before but having an old mechanics stethoscope around (less than £5 to buy) makes identifying exactly where a noise is coming from so damn easy.

Hi
Are you sure it's the gpu?
I had a gtx460 that would squeal really bad when watching vids and gaming.
So i tried another card the Msi 460 cyclone and it did the same (meant not to squeal)
It turned out to be the corsair tx650 psu that was making the the squealing noise.Stuck a collermaster 600w gold in problem fixed :)
It's just when i heard it first i would have put money on it being a problem with the gpu.
Just a thought

May be the PSU, it's not the best but it should be able to handle an HD5770. It's the 500w one you get with the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-225-CM

I locked the fan speed and it's definately not that.
