XFX HD 6870 2gb

For situations like when using high levels of AA, mods and particularly intensive games then providing the price is right, I might consider it. Personally though, I'd rather aspire to a 6950, depends on your budget however. :)

Make no mistake mind, two of those 2gb 6870's in crossfire would be potent at that resolution or higher to some degree.

Well it's going to be for BF3, and i can really only go up to the price of this 68702gb and then get another one in a couple of months.
 
I had 2 5850's x fire and could run bf2 at 5760x1200 max settings and them cards only have 1gig each so a 6870 should be much better :)
 
If going crossfire i would get the extra ram. The 6870 in crossfire is a really fast solution but with 1gb of vram you may get limited in some situations. To avoid this get the 2gb card.
