Just put a new system together, had issues installing the drivers and when I finally did get them to install I was getting performance of a single gpu but with artifacts and framerate glitchs.

Tried fresh install of windows and problem remains, tested with Vantage which is giving me GPU score of 14500 and 7200 on extreme which is pretty poor considering, the artifacts and framerate glitches remain.

Also gave Crysis a go, 1920*1200 at high settings is unplayable.

Using latest chipset drivers and Cat 9.5, X58 chipset.

Any suggetions what the problem might be?

That is rather a large difference, I would try ramping up the fan speed to say 75% and see what happens.

LOL, I just tried 75% and it sounds like a wind turbine... OMG!!!

I'll give vantage another try now..

edit, temps seems to hold at around 70-60C on both GPU's, made no difference to performance, still graphics glitched and minor artifacts.

GPU1 usage was 0%, awesome, I think that explains the temp difference.

Fire up GPUZ and see is crossfire is enabled as that would explain the 0% usage for GPU1. Have you tried using older drivers? You're the second person currently experiencing artifacting recently on a X2 :(

GPUZ claims crossfire is enabled, however GPU usage remains at 0% regardless of what games I load up. I did install 9.3 first, same problems. :(

what are the rest of your system specs?

describe the artifacts

Second test towards the end there are blue lights ahead of the ships like landings lights, it's not ment to look like that, on first test when the crate hts the water the framerate just crashes, like 1fps briefly, this again is not what id expect.

Rest of system

i7 920
Asus P6T
6GB Memory
Corsair 750W

Everythings at stock.

Tried Crysis again performance is massively improved for some reason, 1920*1200, High with 4xAA and it's very playable, around 50-60fps which is more like it, however the noise from card is just to much.

Theres no way I can live with this much noise, the cooler on this card is a joke.

CCC allows you to set fan speed.

You can also use rivatuner to set up better automatic fan control that will keep the fan speed at acceptable levels, so long as your case cooling is sensible.

Yeah I know but the card is hot enough as it is, lowering fanspeed will only make it worse, and increasing fanspeed is not an option, the noise already to much, no win situation really

Why is overdrive grayed out?

is it so loud that you notice it even when you are playing a game with sound?

mine is set to 40% in ccc all the time and is hardly noticable....keeps my card at about 60 after 2 hrs of gaming....usually 40 at idle...so no probs here

Umm yeah as the case is right next to mme, I even have an air conditioner behind me, it's louder then that where i'm sitting.

This card makes my GTX280 in my other system look silent.
