XFX HD4890 help...

i only got my new card a few days ago and already the cap squeal from it is annoying me, as well as the the fact its so noisy. most games if i have vsync off the card decides to fire up and hit 100% load and put the fan on full blast which is relatively annoying and even if i have it on the card will still like to fire up until it decides otherwise, not as loud if i have it off but still noticeably loud.

general web page browsing gets the thing squealing away and even thou i turned on vsync in CCC it still persists, not all websites thou but I'd say about 80%...

just wondering if this is at all normal for these cards and if there is anyway to either quite the bugger down or stop it from trying to "lift off" when ever i try and play a game...

thanks for the replies.

a new psu has been on my mind and could solve the problem but if it not the problem then i don't wanna fork out for a new one...

as for the squeal, yes it only does it out of a game while scrolling through web pages, although not but most, google and ocuk forum do it...

i will have a go at setting the fan speed myself but how will this affect the temperature of the card?

and yes the squeal is very annoying as my desktop sits up on my desk so its more noticable than it was on the floor

as for solving the squealing problem myself i'd rather not tamper with the card, even if it means just taking the heatsink off, knowing me it wont work afterwards

i get the noise too when brwosing most websites using my mouse wheel very strange.

yeh thats happens to me aswell, doesn't do it if i use the scroll bar at the side, just the mouse wheel... very odd
