Hello I have had this card OC for sometime now at 1000/1575 20+ power with amd overdrive. Now all games have been running great BF3 ect, I went and bought Alan wake other day and noticed glitches
At first I didn't think it would be the OC because other games and benches work fine. Just now I undo my OC and put card back to stock and the glitches have stopped?

What am getting at is if my OC is a bad one would it normally show in all games? Why is it just Alan Wake?
If my OC is bad what's the best way on doing it? Thought theses 7950/7970 can easy do 1000 OC

All help very welcome. ;)

My Gigabyte windforce 7950 does 1040/1550 at stock volts , and plays all games fine . All apart from crysis 2 on max with hi res pack , for that i have to come down to 1020/1475. A smidge on the volts at 1040/1550 and its fine, but i want stock volts. so i just run at 1020/1475 .

I would'nt worry about it. you will probably find like me just a small decrece in in speed will work fine .. Looking at your OC just slowing the memory a bit might work .

Also do you know what temperature your card runs at . Might be worth checking .

Thanks I lowered OC down to 975/1575 and its fine at that. I'll see how BF3 play's tonight on B2K maps if FPS stays at 60 I'll be happy with that.

So does this mean if I want 1000 I would need to adjust the voltage?

I would think so, but i would start by backing of the memory a bit and then the gpu. you might find 1000 easy at stock volts with say 1500 memory . In my limited experience memory speed is less important than core speed ..

Ok thanks for that never knew, OC memory changes how GPU OC works. With just Alan Wake showing glitches could it just be that game dont like Overclocking or?
Wouldn't BF3 stress my GPU more than Alan Wake lol

Sorry am new to all this OC I thought it was as simple has moving them sliders :(

Only a set amount of volts are shared around all components of a graphics card . Save some on the memory by backing of a bit allows more to go to the gpu. And when at the limit very small amounts can make the difference. A very simplistic way of looking at it (i'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will say im wrong) but overclocking is a bit hit and miss as no one chip is the same . So a simple over view way of thinking works for me

Edit to say . This is why at some point volts need to be increased to go higher which in turn adds heat , and will generally reduce life expectancy of your card . So with graphics cards i avoid extra volts ( they seem to be more fragile than cpu's)

Thanks :) Another thing I forgot to say. Before I figured it was OC I was asked to record the glitches by a Dev on steam forum. But when I did record on PC my FPS would go to 30 and the glitches would stop? lol so I had to use phone.
