I can’t remember what i used, but Liquid Metal can be cleaned off just fine if that’s what was used. It leaves a stain but that does not affect temps or anything. Can’t remember what was used now too long ago. Any Phillips screwdriver set should be fine.Right ordered some pad and a lot of paste may as well get the best £60 or so in total. LtMatt is there any special type of drivers I need or your usual philips/torx etc?
EDIT: Just to confirm you did not use liquid metal when repasting? As this stuff cannot be taken off?
Well giving it an attempt now wish me luck! Graphics card coolers have sure got a lot more complex in the last 10 years this has a ton of screws.I can’t remember what i used, but Liquid Metal can be cleaned off just fine if that’s what was used. Yes, I did the same when I took it apart. Way too many screws, was a pain in the ass. One of the harder GPUs to dismantle. It made a nice difference at the time when I did it though.I took off more screws than neccesary but figured it out. It is cold in here but not even hitting 60c yet...
Ran some stress tests just reached above 70c gpu hotspot just above 80cYes, I did the same when I took it apart. Way too many screws, was a pain in the ass. One of the harder GPUs to dismantle. It made a nice difference at the time when I did it though.
Seems like its made a nice difference, but when you say 60c do you mean edge or hotspot temps?
Sounds perfect then, good job.Ran some stress tests just reached above 70c gpu hotspot just above 80c
Moving recently from a 6700XT to the 6900XT I agree. The fan curve is completely different. I've noticed the zero rpm mode also goes for longer on the 6900XT. Can now be in mid 40s with no fan. I'm sure the 6700XT was a lot less. Might be able to get away with it for longer now due to larger heatsink. I noticed the fan curve in Adrenalin doesn't ramp up until later. All very interesting. If sad like me.Think most these cards reach 75C is because of the fan curve i've noticed it'll happily let the card heat up to a certain point then the fans kick in probably set to become more aggressive once it reaches 75c none the less problem sorted.
