So done some research and seems this is a very common issue with all of XFX Pro Core PSUs with their 12v DUAL RAIL design, it seems to get worse under load. also I think the 12v is putting out 12.38v which is a tad high isnt it?

mine originally started 18 months ago... then it stopped for just over 12 months, it seems to have started again today, I cant help but feel that its started after putting the tower back under the table on the floor (sitting on a hardback book to keep it off the carpet), this is where it was located 18 months ago when it started, since then I have had it up onto the table when I noticed it stopped, 2 weeks back under the table and it starts again... coincidence?

My Dad had the 550 Pro Core edition which blew after 3 years - cant RMA as cost 3 x price of PSU to return to XFX abroad and have to pay charges in taxes of £90

can anyone recommend a cheap but reliable PSU>?

thanks

huh,,, I stripped it tonight, got some dust out, tested it with a MM (still putting out slightly over voltage but safe i think at 3.36v , 5.5v and 12.18v - however the ticking remained but much less, I put it all together and it was still clicking the same, but low and behold after 10 minutes it completely stops...??? so I dont know if this is caused by dust originally...but can cause a permanent affect if not addressed, thats twice its stopped in 18 months now...

still looking for a new one as Im not relying on it... if one googles XFX PSU Ticking you will see that just about every one sold was defective, my dads 550w blew after 3 years

whats the cheapest reliable PSU for about £35?

which country are you from?

Why would you need to pay tax on something you have already paid it on?

Some retailers will send it off for you ocuk used to do this for xfx products.

I had to send a Corsair psu back to Netherlands it cost around £15 which is far cheaper then £80 I had to pay for it in first place.

maybe the fan is uneven which is what the ticking is which is why it happened when you had it on book replace the fan see if it solves the issue
