XFX R9 280X graphics card doesn’t support my dual monitors

Some help to solve my problem would be appreciated. I have a digital monitor (2560 x 1440) and a VGA monitor (1680 x 1050). My new card has one DL-DVI-I and one SL-DVI-D display output and I use a digital to analogue convertor on this port. My “big” monitor works perfectly at its highest resolution using the DVI-I port but my other monitor gets no signal at all. When I switch them around and run the VGA monitor off the DVI-I port it runs perfectly and my “big” monitor works too from the DVI-D port but only at 1920 x 1080. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

This is frustrating as I chose the XFX card specifically because it had two DVI outputs which was the reason I bought my existing XFX card – an HD 5870 which worked perfectly in this configuration.

Thanks to both of you for your feedback. What you say makes sense although it continues to frustrate me that AMD seem to be continuing to make it incrementally more difficult to run simple non display-port configurations without having to use cables and adaptors.

Just DM me your address and i'll get that arranged. Thanks

Hi Meerkat88

Thank you for your offer which is much appreciated and I am impressed at the speed of response. Re sending you a DM - it seems this functionality has been disabled for some time by the moderators and they rely instead on using the "trust" buttons below each users post. I have never used this functionality and when I tried to use it this evening see that it lists an old email address of mine that no longer exists. Although I have updated my personal CP with my current email address I am caught by the "Trust" button which sends a validation code to my old email address so I can't change it. In short I don't think the "Trust" button method is going to work.
Is there a plan B for making contact - perhaps via the XFX UK website?

Reporting back to say that XFX were as good as their word and have supplied me with an adaptor. Actually they have done better than one - they supplied an adaptor for the display port and one for the HDMI port - so well done XFX - and thank you.
