XFX Radeon 4890

Please Help replaced a gfx 7800 gt with the 4890 and the card wont boot on soft start but kicks in ok with a hard boot running a ga-x38-dq6 q6600
4 gig corsair 8500 and a 850w psu card running off 2 pcie power plugs and is not jumped card runs fine when hard booted any clues to a cure. running vista old drivers removed and latest installed from i/net.

This is always a good idea. Also, make sure your graphics card is updated to the latest firmware version.

psu is a fps 700w not an 850 took the covers off today and i am a bit reluctant to flash the bios because the bios updates are a bit flakey on this mobo

contacted XFX last week and all they can sugest is to put it into another machine or to take it to the local shop for them to test, old card worked fine in it

fps 700w??? never heard of it. in that case maybe its the psu.

tbh it could be the psu

Not convinced as it boots and runs ok on hard boot i will run a couple of games through and load the card and see what happens

hard booting it could be forceing it..

have u tryed clearing the CMOS?
