I have tired to flash my card several times, using different a BIOS each time, but I keep getting the same message (below). I tried to flash it with ATI Flash the latest version.

If you get an error like ID mismatch or Could not erase ROM, then you'll have to do some extra work in a Windows command prompt (or DOS): Run atiwinflash -unlockrom 0 followed by atiwinflash -f -p 0 bios.bin where bios.bin is the path and filename of the HD 6970 BIOS you downloaded.

found it for you from guru3d basically it wants you to stop taking shortcuts

Ok i tried this got an error. now it says no adapter can be found. everyone else seems to do it with ease yet mine just doesnt want to do it.

make sure bios switch is set closest to fan of the card. put winflash folder on desktop with all the stuff init, pluss the bios u want to flash and rename it to unlock.bin there might be another in there with same name take it out put in safe place. click start, in search for prog type cmd right click that run as admin. in cmd(dos) type.
cd %userprofile%\desktop\winflash
next backup ur bios
atiwinflash -s 0 xfibios ( or what ever u want to call it instead of xfibios)
atiwinflash -unlockrom 0 (some bios's are lock i.e asus, so need unlockin)
atiwinflash -f -p 0 unlock.bin ( or what ever the new bios file name is if u didn't rename it)
