XFX Radeon R9 290X

iir they need 600+ but someone will be along to confirm I expect...

Should be fine unless you've got a case full of gubbins and are overclocking components.

Yeah, i know they are power hungry but I am to get a Corsair AX 760 as my next PSU with the red braided cables to match my theme so that should be good enough I hope.

Well I tried it now my PSU doesn't do anything. My PC doesn't POST or actually do anything. Tried troubleshooting unplugging everything plugging it back in and no joy.. new PSU time, any suggestions?

The Corsair PSU should be fine to power the card without issue.

What is the rest of your system spec, you should at least get the system to start as it would not defect a over current without starting if the PSU was under powered.

But a few options below:

YOUR BASKET
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 650W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £67.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £53.99
1 x EVGA 600W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply (100-B1-0600-KR) £53.99
Total : £185.57 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Seems to be working now very odd,

Symptoms:

Unplugged old Graphics Card (MSI R9 270X)
Plugged new card in PCI (XFX R9 290X)
No power what so ever, PC not even posting.

Cause:

Maybe something unplugged.

I unplugged everything from Mobo then plugged it all back in one at a time and tried the PSU and it worked with everything.

Very strange, all seems to be working fine at the moment thanks guys

Hi was looking more at this:

I like the idea of fully modular so I can tidy up my dodgy newbie wiring.

1x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black

What do you make of this PSU? I know everyone loves the Powerflow PSU's and they come with a nifty 5 year warranty which is great.

okay proably gonna get a little stick for this but currently running my xfx r9 290x in my second rig until my new case arrives, currently running 3570K ON A P8Z77I deluxe with a water cooling loop running and its all working off a corsair cx500 (until my rm650 returns from rma) so you shouldn't have any problem with your psu.

That's pushing it a bit there, but yeah it seems stable doesn't get as hot as XFX state i seem to get up to 80 degrees max, but then again that depends on how well your system copes with air flow etc.

It also depends on how you've set the profile up in CCC! With the case mod to my Parvum S2, i was getting 80c with no more than 60% fan speed which is perfectly acceptable.

To be honest, I never normally touch it. I have just left it at default, are there any particular useful settings with the Catalyst Control Centre?
