Hi all..

having rma'd my xfx 6800gt agp 23 month old card..i've just received a 6800gs replacement..foc..god bless xfx!!

problem..

as the gs is a little less spec than the gt i feel as i'm going backward..was thinking of..

A..sell on ebay for £80 ish?? and buy a 7600 gt agp...done.
B..keep and save for full upgrade when dx10/vista up and running.
C..sell on ebay..add too the £80..(approx £80)..and get a new pci-e mobo..x1800xt/7900gs

i currently have the following..

asus a8v deluxe/64-3500 skt 939/1g pc3200/hiper 425/cooler master cavalier

will the power supply be ok for pci-e?will the case take all?

what do you all think??

If it were me, I'd want the better of the 3, now, for a nice price so it would have to be X1800 XT. DX10 cards will be a while off yet.

oc it put a better cooler on it and should get to 6800 ultra speeds and unlock its pixel pipes, then flash it to permanelty allow this (aslong as the unlocked pipes work correctly)

all i ws thinking is at the end of the day DX10 cards should b out next year and a oced 6800GS should have no trouble to last him, saves money
 
how come you didn't go through OcUK for the replacement. I have just had to return both my XFX 6800GT PCI -E cards (1 still under a year old) and got a set of BFG 7600 GT's.

For single card solutions these perform well but in SLi I have a huge performance boost. Just need to get a new monitor to take advantage.

I think the ATi cards are probably the best for single card solutions as has been already suggested.

Been a while since I kept upto date on the graphics front it seems to change very other day with new and improved models.
