Last year I puchased an XFX 4870x2 on a special offer at Ocuk £259, around October it developed a fault and after a couple of weeks of Tickets with XFX and testing at OC it was deemed to be faulty and sent off to the XFX factory for repair/replacement, now after 6 weeks without a working PC I got an email from OC saying they have credited my account to the value of £194. Now I dont know who is making this payment, OCUK or XFX but this does not seem to fullfil the repair/replacement promise that XFX state in their warranty.

I have written back to OCUK declining the offer as I cant buy a card equal to my 4870x2 for £194. Is this normal practice with warranty claims on Graphics cards ?

Take it and get a 5850... I know I would! Or get 2 x 5770, runs cooler dx11 ect

The only thing that would annoy me is it being gone for 6weeks!

Personally, i would accept nothing less than a full refund, or replacement with an equivilant GFX. In this case it would have to be a 5870. Anything less and you are being ripped off and not being granted your rights under the sale of goods act.

I'd have declined this as well... how on earth can they offer you less than what you paid for the card?!?

Doesn't make any sense to me...

Presumably as the card is no longer available and not fixable they will 'credit' some notional price based on the last selling price not the price at the time you bought it.

Should be some room for negotioation 194 is not a common price for an xfx 4870x2

OCUK will probably be the source of the payment if its within 12 months

Im about to rma my xfx gtx 280 xt, card was purchased (not from ocuk) 11 months ago for £280.00, will be interesting to see wether they offer some sort of refund or what they replace it with, seeing as the 280 has been eol for a while now. ps six weeks doesnt sound great.
