Just bought a XFX 8800GTX, but am abit confused with the warranty.

I've seen a lot of people tout the "double lifetime Warranty" line around various forums, but on closer inspection, this warranty is only available in North America??

I've gone to the XFX website and sure enough, if you enter your region as North America, you get a nice big DOUBLE LIFETIME WARRANTY in yer face.

If you enter your region as europe, you get a much more modest and boring bunch of text, and no mention of a lifetime warranty.

So basically, what kind of warranty do people in the UK get with XFX cards??

Is there warranty support THAT bad

I'm getting kinda worried here, I hope this card doesn't bork out on me 6 months down the road :( .
Well I had a 6800GS at one time, and it died on me after about two weeks. I sent it off to XFX for RMA and they sent it back with a bill saying that the warranty was void, which was odd as I generally don't mess with or overclock a card until a couple of months in.

Since then, on a less personal note, there was the 7900GT fiasco during which that particular graphics card (especially the factory overclocked models) suffered an almost 5% or one-in-twenty failure rate. The main companies to suffer from this were XFX and EVGA, but apparently XFX couldn't handle the workload so they ended up temporarily shutting down their forums and helpdesk.

At one point OcUK refused to stock XFX products (link) because of the way they handle RMAs, which includes commonly refusing to honour them at all. I'm pretty sure there are still no XFX products on this website.

More recently XFX decided they would be clever and print the EVGA logo in the drool of the dog they usually print on the boxes for their graphics cards, a completely disting lack of professionalism there. EVGA are now sueing them.

So there you have it, four reasons why I got one hate XFX. I'm not trying to make you afraid of your card, or worry that you chose the wrong brand, as chances are it will live a full and healthy life. The problems start if it doesn't.

I suppose if you do end up getting very worried then the Distance Selling Regulations could be on your side, as you may decide that you have no confidence in the aftersales support that you're entitled to. If you were to decide that you wanted to switch brand then I'd strongly recommend BFG and EVGA as they have the best warranties around, and their customer service is about as good as it can get.

The chances of it borking are very slim
I have a XFX 7900 GT & have had it since release, they have a very high failure rate but it's still going strong... I've even volt modded it, see in sig :)

XFX may have a bad RMA set up but they make good reliable products using more expensive parts so they dont bork so easily ;)

Damnit, I hope my XFX 7900GS doesn't die. However if it does I will be sending it to the competitor I bought it from as they are very good with RMA's.
