Basically do I need to register my new 8800GTX, like BFG require you to do, to qualify?

I don't think you have to. The first two years are with Ocuk Direct. XFX's RMA service is atrocious so you're much, much better off sending it back thru Ocuk in any situation.

But, to answer you're question. Sorry, I don't know.
