Hi all,

I'm having trouble with getting the digital to work with DVD in that it doesn't seem to work at all. It worked before my last build (typical) but I had all the settings and what I needed to do written down somewhre but they seem to have gone walkabout!!

I've got all the right cables I think I just need to set up the X Fi software and the DVD player software to correctly get going.

Would some kind soul please post their settings so I can mimic them and see if that works. I've got Cyberlink Power DVD but I can get hold of any other DVD proggies if you guys use others.

Oh I should add I'm running the Logitech 5500 Speakers

Thanks people

Paul

Turn off the built in decoder on the X-Fi options then set the DVD software to use S/PDIF. You may also have to open up Windows Volume Control, go to the advanced setting then tick 'Enable Digital out'

yup

with the newest driver i have to redo this each time i reboot the pc (fixing in next driver i hope)

yeah this bug in the new driver really annoys me its something so simple you think they would have realised before they released it. I hope we dont have to wait to long for a fix.

so does the SPDIF not work at all or just in this instance?
I was thinking of getting an SPDIF for my 5.1 speakers, unless there is no difference in quality from analogue?

ok i've tried this and I still can't get anything through either the optical or coax. It only works through the direct input with Dolby PLII Movie if that makes any sense. I'm sure I had it working through the Coax input before. Pretty sure the cabling is done ok, can there be anything else I may have overlooked?

No huge difference between analogue/digital, plus with digital you can't get 5.1 in games
