is the Intel i5 2500k socket 1155 with a dimension of 37.5 x 37.5 too large for the base of my Thor's hammer cooler.

it's i7 COMPATABILE from about 2009, but i dont know how this compares to the i5 today.

i can get a new mounting kit for it to suit the 1155 socket, but i'm not sure about the base dimension......thanks

if you can find something to say its compatable with socket 1155 OR socket 1156 then it will fit on the new sandybridge processors (i5 2500k, i7 2600k, etc), because 1155 and 1156 share the same mounting points. with a 20 second search i have not found anything to say if it can fit on socket 1155 or 1156.

however, some sandybridge asrock motherboards are compatible with socket 775 coolers, which the thors hammer definitely is compatible with:

*edit*
looks like OcUKs favourite high end motherboard supports it, the asrock Z68 extreme 4 gen3

the mobo i'm interested in is the gibabyte GAZ68XP-UD3P, but it's so damned hard doing the research..

yes the latest mounting kit for the thors hammer ACK-15363 sais it fits the 1155 socket, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the base of the Cooler isn't smaller than the processor.... because it shouldn't be, the trouble is all the reviews are from 2 years ago

i'll have to measure it up tomorrow, but right now it's so bloody cold that i'm staying at Mom's .... lol
