Has anyone heard anything about these, are they any good?

I'm looking to replace my Hiper becuase the 4pin motherboard cable is too short for my case (PSU at the bottom) and don't really want to spend stupid ammounts on a PSU. Yes I know you get what you pay for however I can get an Xilence 600W PSU for £41 inc vat which will serve me fine.

It will be running the following:

E4300 at 3GHz
2GB PC6400
8800GTS (old version)
1 HDD (possibly looking at putting another 2 in)
1 DVD-RW
7 Case fans

My understanding is they're nowhere near as quiet as they advertise...no idea on the actual power they supply though. For that kind of budget you can't go far wrong with the 450W Corsairs and Seasonics.

Touch wood its never let me down, although now i've posted this I expect it to blow up in good fashion!

Have just seen the Corsair at £41 on another site which is very tempting, although modular is nice, i'd rather have the PSU facing the correct way and cba spending £60+ on a good PSU.

Just saw the Xilence PSU and thought it was a bit of a bargin and wondered if anyone had used one before

I had a 600w Xilence PSU, it lasted me about 10 or 11 months before it quietly died on Boxing Day. According to the reviews, its 12v rail was barely adequate, but the 5v rail was very good. Oh, and mine was very quiet, if that makes any difference to you. At least it was better than the one i replaced it with, a 700w PcWorld jobbie that went **** up with a loud bang, a big green flash and a puff of smoke after about 4 months of use.

Hello JamesM, the Xilence Power 600w power supply is a dual rail unit - The +12V1 rail being able to deliver up to 15 amps and the +12V2 rail can deliver up to 16 amps. Now, since you can't load up both rails to their maximum simultaneously, you have a power supply unit that will be able to deliver less than 30 amps on the 12 volt rail.

Now, I honestly don't think it's worth looking into how much the Xilence Power 600w will be able to deliver on the +12Volt rail. Since it seems a rather cheap power supply and if you are willing to spend around £5 more, you could get the Corsair VX 450W ATX PSU which is able to deliver 33 amps on the +12Volt rail and you also get the added security of knowing it's a extremely reliable brand. :)

Out of curiosity, do you have the Type-R or the Type-M Hiper?

The reason I ask is becasue I have just ordered a Coolermaster C690 Dominator and with it having the PSU at the bottom, I 'm a little worried now that the 4 pin on my Type-M will not reach.

Maybe this is a silly question but if you are desperate to save cash why not buy an extender for the 4 pin +12v aux cable?

Thats what I will do if it doesnt fit.

Just googling where I can get one from for Friday.

Not much luck at the mo unless I want to pay over £5 postage for a £2.50 item

Edit: Will a MOLEX TO ATX P4 4 PIN MOTHERBOARD EXTENSION CABLE be ok?
