Somewhere in the middle.
I just found an old model car in my bedroom which Ive had since I was a kid.

Ive never realised the wing mirrors on the XJ220 arent symmetrical, One is mounted on the passenger door, and the other is on the driver side front wing.

It was like this on the model and I thought it was a fault, but ive googled images and it confirms this.

Whats the reason behind this. is it the width of the car or something?

Aye, if you put the passenger side mirror in the same place as the driver's side it would be obscured by the A pillar.

I suppose the question then becomes why is the driver's side one further forward?

suppose that makes sense, haha

im really dense at times like.

Im looking through the model car i have and its the window frame thing obscuring the view (i know theres a name for the frame but im slow lol)

It's in the current issue of EVO in an old vs new comparison against a Lambo LP640 if you're interested.

• Escort RS Cosworth v Focus RS
• Aston Vantage 600 v Mercedes SL Black
• Lotus Elise SC v Tesla Roadster
• E30 M3 v E92 M3
• Peugeot 205 GTI v Abarth 500 Esseesse
• Jaguar XJ220 v Lamborghini LP640
• Lotus Carlton v VXR8 Bathurst S
• Caterham Levante v Caparo T1

Lovely looking thing. Pity it ended up with what was effectively the Metro 6R4's motor rather than a nice big V12....

Very true, with it not matching the pre-build spec list it but only seemed a disapointment for many. The recession hit the XJ220 hard with many orders lost.

I love that wing-mirror fact, proper pub petrolhead ammo! :)

Gumball XJ220 looks cool:

I've also noticed that it has rear lights off an old rover 200/400 series

I'd never noticed that before! I did think that the rear lights looked a bit 'dated' however.

Does that mean my Rover 400 is infact a Jaguar XJ220 as it shares parts? :p

Probably the reason why they called it the XJ220, after the Rover 220 ;)
