Hello all,
Firstly, I'm using Excel 2003 SP3 (as part of Office 2003 SP3) on Windows XP Professional SP2.
I have an issue where my XLS File Type settings (Accessed by going Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types) have been modified somehow and I cannot 'reset' them back to their original settings.
My current settings for Opening XLS file types are:
Action: Open
Application used to perform action: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE" /e %1
Use DDE (checkbox ticked)
DDE Message: [open("%1")]
Application: EXCEL
DDE Application Not Running: Blank
Topic: System
I think that the %1 in the Application used to perform action is causing the issue where whenever I go to open an XLS file where there are spaces in its path e.g. c:\my documents\myxls.xls, I get the following error messages in sequence:
Cannot find "c:\my" make sure the path is correct...
Cannot find "documents\myxls.xls" make sure the path is correct...
After these errors have been applied, the document opens.
I have tried removing the %1 from the Application used to perform action field but it always reappears when I check the file type opening settings again.
Does anyone have any idea how to reset these back to their original settings (I have googled this for sometime with no joy)?
Many thanks in advance!
PS: I found it quite difficult to describe certain things above, so if you have any questions, please ask!
James
