Xmas 2020 computer. Any good now?

Hi all,

I’m just having a clear out and have a computer that used to run my racing sim. It’s been in a box for a couple years I never got around to selling it back then.

This was the spec when I got it originally. I’ve not been in the PC world for quite some time now.

Would this still be any use for basic gaming or anything? Or not really worth much now a days?

I’m currently doing years of updates so haven’t managed to play around with it yet!

Never mind basic gaming, that will easily do 1440p at ultra settings and still do 4k with lower settings. That's still a excellent pc.

3090 is equivalent to GPUs that cost more than £500 brand new (and have less VRAM), so no, it is much better than basic gaming.

You could pop an x3d chip in there for better gaming performance. Otherwise still a good platform you have. I swapped my 3900x for a 5700x3d and noticed significant gains in all games I play.

This will still ultra games at 1440p
