So I've got my paws on a spare cisco 7970G (a IP phone with a rather ncie colour touch screen supporting XML apps.

So, with no knowledge of programming (ok, well a little bit of c# a while back and all consuming knowledge of IOS) i want to put that screen to good use.

specifically i want, the cricket score, the weather, news headlines and new emails in my gmail mailbox would be nice

does anybody have any pointers in the right direction??

I know the directory on one of these phones can be pulled from a .xml on a web server with a relatively simple format so it can't be rocket science, also cisco claim you could write an application to check stock levels and reserve items for this phone, so the capability must exist.

can't be too hard can it?

any help very much appreciated!

The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7970G allows users to quickly access diverse information such as weather,
stocks, quote of the day, or any Web-based information. The phone uses XML to provide a portal to an ever-
growing world of features and information.

This was in a Cisco PDF file which I found on google which states that if u press the services button you can put xml data there for stock quotes etc...

I will look more into it

EDIT: Didnt find any thing
