If you start raising the BClock to OC the CPU, the memory speed will also increase. I use the XMP settings as a baseline or starting point all the time. It's a quick and easy way to have a solid starting point for your OC. You could set XMP and then manually set the memory multiplier back down if you need to adjust the memory multiplier to compensate for your BClock increase if you exceed the stable point for the memory.
